Day 1

  1. Find r stickers and put on R
  2. Color and assemble Letter R Book
  3. Go to library and get r books
  4. Put out R words (refrigerator, roof…I highly recommend using masking or painting tape so nothing is ruined when  you pull it off)
  5. Starfall computer activity
  6. Video: Olive and the Rhyme Rescue Crew

Day 2

  1. Fill in R Outline and r Outline with: ribbon and rainbows (Other options: rice, red, rope)
  2. Ring around the Rosie
  3. Talked about relatives
  4. Video: Sesame Street and the Letter R

Day 3

  1. Row row row your boat — We just happened to get a big box of diapers in the mail.  So, she relegated our box to a boat and did some rowing with drumsticks.  We sang the song.  We tried to do it in a round, but she could not get it.  We laughed a lot while we tried though. 🙂  (That blue towel was the water, apparently.)

  2. Gather rocks and clean them
  3. Listen to some 50’s rock and roll — surprisingly scandalous — I skipped a lot of songs.

Day 4

  1. Run
  2. Letter to a friend whose name starts with R
  3. Get cleaned rocks from yesterday and paint them
  4. Right and left — Played the Hokey Pokey

Day 5

  1. Gather up any toys (animals are especially great for this) that start with the letter.  Create a centerpiece and display the items. (That tall item is a tree — with Roots. She thought of that herself. 🙂 )

    Appetizers: Round crackers (I was going to get Ritz, but that would have involved a trip to a second grocery store…no thanks! 🙂 ), raisins and raw cheese

    Dinner: Red Beans and Rice (with sausage) — no picture, because, well, red beans and rice. 🙂
    Dessert: Raspberry Lemon Shortbread Tart (I did the shortbread wrong…just one of the reasons it doesn’t look like the picture with the recipe. 😉 )
